Mentor program kicks off
A NEW hands-on training and mentoring program has been officially launched at The Northern Outlook in Redlynch.

It aims to help young people gain confidence, practical skills and pathways into employment and education.
The Northern Nest Graduate Program, an initiative supported by AFL Cairns and funded through the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, brought together local community leaders, trainers and participants to celebrate its official start.
Designed for participants aged 15 and over, the 10-week program combines personal development, teamwork and practical qualifications.
The first three weeks are focused on team-building and personal growth, delivered by Thrive and Connect, followed by a Certificate I in Construction with Major Training.
The launch event highlighted how the program will give young people the chance to engage in community projects, develop employability skills and receive mentoring support as they prepare for future careers.
AFL Cairns officials said the initiative would not only provide participants with training opportunities but also help them build confidence and stronger connections within their community.
The Northern Nest program represents a collaborative effort between local organisations committed to creating positive outcomes for youth in the Cairns region.
