Lucky 4870 postcode
CAIRNS has been named Queensland’s luckiest postcode for lottery wins after recording more division one prizes than any other postcode in the state during FY26.
New figures from The Lott show the Cairns/Earlville postcode (4870) recorded four division one winning entries between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, with local winners sharing more than $8.2 million in prize money. The biggest individual prize awarded in the postcode was $4.8 million.
Broadbeach/Mermaid Waters (4218) and Bundaberg (4670) followed with three division one wins each.
Across Australia, there were 492 division one winning entries across all lottery games in FY26, delivering more than $1.53 billion in division one prize money.
Victoria recorded the most division one wins with 138, while New South Wales claimed the highest division one prize money, totalling $452.8 million.
Queensland recorded 94 division one wins during the financial year, with players sharing more than $219 million in division one prize money.
The state ranked third nationally for division one wins and millionaires created, and fourth for total division one prize money.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the figures highlighted the broad spread of winning entries across the country.
“Across FY26, hundreds of Australians discovered just how life-changing a division one lottery win can be,” Mr Hart said.
“Every draw is entirely random, and every entry has its own chance of winning, but the data does show some postcodes enjoyed a particularly memorable run of division one success.
“While metropolitan areas featured strongly, FY26 also delivered major wins to plenty of regional and remote towns, proving lottery luck can land just about anywhere.
“We know some players love visiting outlets that have recently sold a major prize, hoping a little of that winning streak might rub off, while others prefer to search for their own lucky spot.
“No matter where you buy your entry, the message from our winners is always the same: you need a ticket in the draw to have a chance of taking home the prize.”
The figures cover division one wins across The Lott’s lottery games between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, including online entries as well as store, group and central syndicate purchases.
