The team from Cairns Organisation United for Cancer Health (COUCH) have braved the shave and raised nearly $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of this year’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Last Friday March 12, COUCH chairman Ron Holden and his wife Paula, who is a cancer survivor, shaved their heads for the worthy cause, along with six other COUCH board members, staff and volunteers.

This will be the couple’s second shave, having participated together in 2013.

“The Leukaemia Foundation does great work and made a generous donation to COUCH in 2019, so this was an opportunity to reciprocate,” said Mr Holden.

Both charity organisations provide those affected by cancer with meaningful support during their treatment and recovery journeys.

Reds Salon supported the event by supplying two hairdressers to shave the heads of the team at the COUCH Wellness Centre in Manoora.

“Achieving close to our $10,000 goal was made possible by the generosity of a wide range of contacts and supporters of the broader COUCH family,” said Mr Holden.

The team are currently just $600 short of their $10,000 goal and donations can still be made at: my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/teamcouch
