The Palm Cove Dog Show Is Back!

After two years of hiatus because of COVID, the Palm Cove Annual Dog Show is back for dogs and owners to go all out in fancy outfits to support the Young Animal Protection Society Cairns (YAPS) on Sunday, May 15, at the Palm Cove Tavern.

An event for dog lovers of all ages, the Palm Cove Dog Show is running for the sixth year to celebrate our furry best friends andenjoy some friendly competition with other dog owners in theregion. 

The Palm Cove Dog Show will begin at 8.30am at the Palm Cove Tavern, a dog-friendly venue, andit will hold all sorts of fun activities until 11am. 

There will be a breakfast sausage sizzle, competition, a grand parade, raffles and cute rescue dogs. 

Owners can register their dogs online or at entry and compete. 

This year the judging categories are: 

• Fancy dress dogs and handlers 

• Palm Cove puppy (for pups under three years) 

• Owner/dog lookalike 

 • Dapper senior dog (over 10 years) 

• Best rescue dog 

• Palm Cove prince and princess 

There are cash prizes on the line for the winners. 

Organiser of the Palm Cove Dog Show, Rhonda Henderson, said the community is very excited about the return of the dog show. 

“People love it,” Ms Hender- son said. 

“Palm Cove is a very dog- friendly area, and it’s a greatopportunity for the community to enjoy.” 

Ms Henderson said this is a family-friendly event that all puppy lovers can enjoy. 

“Come along and support the Palm Cove Dog Show,” she said. 

“It’s a community event, and it’s lovely to watch all the dogs and their owners have fun. 

“The fancy dress competition is very entertaining to watch, and it’s lovely to get the community together and support a charity like YAPS.”
