Teens arrested following burglary investigation

Yesterday, Far North Police arrested and charged a 14-year-old Manoora boy and a 17-year-old Edge Hill boy following an investigation into multiple burglaries throughout Cairns.

Yesterday, Far North Police arrested and charged a 14-year-old Manoora boy and a 17-year-old Edge Hill boy following an investigation into multiple burglaries throughout Cairns.

Police will allege attempts were made to force entry to several homes throughout Manoora and Parramatta Park over the past week before a Martyn Street home was successfully entered between Saturday night and Sunday morning (August 7 – 8), where a vehicle was stolen.

At 1.50pm yesterday, officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad arrested the boys and they were denied police bail.

Both are charged with several offences and are due to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court.

The 14-year-old was charged with two counts each of attempted burglary, burglary and receiving tainted property as well as one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The 17-year-old was charged with two count of attempted burglary as well as one count each of burglary, driving a motor vehicle without a driver licence, receiving tainted property, stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

At around 2.20pm yesterday, police located the stolen vehicle parked on Dunbar Street, Mooroobool.

The vehicle had sustained internal damage.
