The positions of Restaurant General Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager were advertised on the company’s website and posted to online job boards Seek and Indeed.

Australian franchisee owner, Collins Foods Limited remained tight-lipped about an official opening date for its Cairns outlet.

However, the news is the biggest indication yet that the highly anticipated launch may be imminent.

In 2018, the company ignited speculation about a local outlet when it announced plans to open 50 Taco Bells in Australia by 2021.

For almost a year now, locals have watched in envy as their Townsville counterparts indulged in worldwide classics like Crunchwrap Supreme®, Cheesy Gordita Crunch® and fan favourite Crunchy Tacos.

Cairns fans responded by taking to Taco Bell’s Facebook Australia page pleading for a restaurant and proving just how many die-hard FNQ fans the group has.

“Can’t wait for the Cairns store to open,” said one Facebook user. “Then I’ll only have to drive 70kms for some TB goodness.”

If recent launches are anything to go by locals vying for their first taste of Taco Bell better have a sleeping bag, with reports of super-fans camping out overnight to get their hands on the tasty tucker.

Despite the impacts of COVID-19 work has progressed on the 2500sqm restaurant which will seat 60 diners inside, 20 in its outdoor dining area and offer a drive-through service.

Taco Bell currently has 14 Australian restaurants with 10 in Queensland.
