Sporting organisations get funding boost
Council will provide almost $240,000 in funding support for 13 local sporting and recreational organisations through the latest 2021/2022 Go Clubs Infrastructure Grant.
The Go Clubs Infrastructure grant assists local sport, recreation, arts, culture, and community organisations with the development of improved facilities.
Successful grant recipients are:
• Babinda Golf Club Inc: $16,910 for shed roof replacement
• Cairns & District Darts Association Inc: $18,425 to upgrade and repair the roofs on the darts hall and dance hall
• Cairns City Kennel Club Inc: $22,728 for the rectification of the veranda and associated drainage works
• Cairns Model Aero Club Inc: $25,000 to develop the new Model Aero Club flying fields
• Cairns Yacht Club Inc: $16,000 to install dinghy racking
• Earlville Pony Club Inc: $14,910 to undertake stable maintenance and associated compliance works
• Edge Hill United Football Club Inc: $22,728 to upgrade fire systems
• Edge Hill/Whitfield Progress Association Inc: $18,182 to upgrade the roof in preparation for solar installation
• Freshwater Tennis Club Inc: $22,714 to upgrade the external staircase
• Half Moon Bay Golf Club Inc: $13,000 to develop a tree and vegetation management plan
• Mulgrave Combined Cricket Association Inc: $13,000 to resurface cricket wickets
• Redlynch Equestrian Association Inc: $13,041 to undertake stable maintenance and upgrades
• Trinity Beach Bulldogs Netball Club Inc: $22,728 to construct a new netball court (Note: All grants are ex-GST)
