Nine new officers welcomed to the Cairns area

The armed services, a casino worker, a retail employee, a mortgage underwriter and a construction labourer – there’s no doubt about it, our latest group of First Year Constables bring with them a wealth of experience.

Recently graduating from the Brisbane Police Academy, the nine new officers will take up their first postings at Cairns, Smithfield and Edmonton Police Stations.

The officers undertook an orientation day at the Cairns police station on Monday before hitting the road with assigned Field Training Officers this week at their respective police stations.

Constable McNab is following in the footsteps of other family members already serving with the Queensland Police Service.

“I have family and friends who are police officers and they love it,” Constable McNab said.

“I’m hoping that I will love this career as much as they do.”

Coming from an investigative background as a mortgage underwriter, Constable Hopkins looks forward to pursuing a career as in investigator in the QPS.

We wish our newest First Year Constables all the best as they embark on their policing career.
