Mr Brown said the new booking platform will be developed in partnership with local Port Douglas accommodation and hospitality businesses.

“Our plan is to create a booking platform similar to Trivago or Booking.com, but where revenue from fees and advertisements stays with our local tourism businesses.”

“Port Douglas offers some of the best accommodation and restaurants in Australia. The local revenue we can generate by keeping booking fees in Port Douglas rather than lining the pockets of external corporate platforms will be a real game changer for local businesses,” Mr Brown said.

“The economic rewards form a project like this will only continue to grow as we increase our visitor nights and extend stays.” “This is an opportunity for all local businesses to get on board and reap the local benefits.

It’s an innovative project that will bring our tourism community together.”

Mr Brown said that he is excited to support this initiative and looks forward to working with local businesses to boost tourism in Port Douglas.

“The LNP’s commitment to getting this project off the ground demonstrates how seriously we take tourism in Port Douglas. Labor has turned their back on local tourism jobs and business, but we have a real plan to rebuild our economy.”
