Last chance for parade
TODAY is the final chance for participants keen to float their creative side and register their entries into the Port Douglas Carnivale Macrossan Street Parade.

Businesses, individuals and community groups are invited to take part in the annual signature event, for a chance to win up to $2000.
In keeping with the region’s natural beauty enveloped by the world-renown Great Barrier Reef and Daintree rainforest, this year’s parade, on 22 May, is themed ‘ancient wonders’.
Douglas Shire Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said it was the perfect inspiration for the community and businesses to highlight why the Douglas Shire was their home.
“Winning floats will showcase the treasures of our region, the natural beauty, tropical culture and community spirit of the Douglas Shire,” she said.
“The parade is a fantastic way for businesses, community groups and individuals to come together and celebrate.”
“You have got to be in it to win it, so (today) is your chance get involved,” Mayor Scomazzon said.
Parade prize categories include:
Best float – overall $2000 Best float – business $1000
Best float – community $1000
Best float – eco-friendly $500.
