As part of a massive six-country, 50-show world tour, the 2026 Cairns stop will feature jaw-dropping stunts, backflips and never-before-seen tricks from the sport’s elite. Among them is 20-time X-Games gold medallist and reigning world champion Rob Adelberg.

“I’m from regional Victoria and my dirt bike has taken me all over the world for the last 20 years,” he said. “I can tell you, there is no better crowd to ride in front of than in places like Cairns.”

Headlining the family-friendly event is motocross legend Robbie Maddison, often dubbed the modern-day Evel Knievel, who will perform alongside his sons, 14-year-old Kruz and 11-year-old Jagger.

“At 43-years-old, it is no secret that I am closer to the end of my freestyle motocross career than I am to the start,” Mr Maddison said.

“But by far my greatest achievement is watching my three boys share the same passion I have for this sport… they are little showmen at heart.”

Promoter Josh Hannah said Cairns was a deliberate stop on the world tour, with the region’s strong dirt bike and BMX culture making it a natural fit for the show’s return.

“Regional Australia has a deep affinity and love for all things dirt bike and BMX, so it just made sense,” he said.

“We source everything locally, from food and beverage to ushers and security… we like to think we give a lot back to a regional centre like Cairns.”

Cazalys Stadium is expected to see an economic boost of around $500,000 from the event, according to projections based on accommodation and tourism spending. “For us, this is an opportunity for the city of Cairns to present itself on the world stage,” said AFL Cairns general manager Craig Lees.

“We cannot wait to host the Freestyle Kings next May.”
