The track, now available on all major streaming platforms, has become a crowd favourite at live shows and is often requested by couples for their first dance.

Ms Nighthawk recalls the first time she performed the song.

“I played it at our wedding on just an acoustic guitar in front of our closest friends,” she said.

“It was a special moment. I promised my wife I would release it one day for her as well. Now it’s a song for everybody.”

The studio version builds from an intimate acoustic ballad into a sweeping orchestral crescendo, capturing the emotional arc of love and celebration.

“The song really told us what it needed,” she said.

“It screamed grandiose, big strings, big timpani and we wanted it to be a really uplifting, powerful song.”

For the official music video, Ms Nighthawk chose to feature real couples and their wedding footage, rather than actors.

“People are craving realness,” she said.

“Having those real couples just makes it personal. There’s an energy that transfers when you see that.”

The song marks a turning point in Ms Nighthawk’s musical journey, moving from themes of heartbreak to joy and new love.

“This song exemplifies a big change in my personal life, coming out, finding my person and getting married,” she said.

Before her solo career, she found success with her band Grandhour, winning best rock artist at the 2016 Australian Independent Music Awards with their self-produced album Bombs & Bullets.

Now based in Tropical North Queensland, Ms Nighthawk has embraced the region’s vibrant music community.

“Cairns has a really relaxed, genuine vibe. There’s no ego. People just come to enjoy the music, have a chat and celebrate each other,” she said.

“Playing here feeds my creativity in a way the studio never can. There’s a positive energy that comes from interacting with the crowd every weekend.”

Ms Nighthawk is a fixture in Cairns’ live music scene, performing regularly at popular venues and festivals.

She will open for The Screaming Jets on 25 October at Ellis Beach (sold out) and will perform at the Tablelands Folk Festival today (24 October).

With her soulful vocals and deeply personal songwriting, Nicole Nighthawk continues to captivate audiences while carving a new chapter of joy, love and musical exploration.
