It’s the Harry and Eli show at Muay Thai bouts in Yeppoon
TWO Cairns Muay Thai fighters are preparing for bouts at the Road to Glory promotion in Yeppoon on 22 November, representing Precision Muay Thai (PMT) in the junior and professional divisions.

Fifteen-year-old Eli Stout will compete in the 59kg division for the ISKA junior state title. He has trained at PMT for around a year and has fought five times, winning four of them. His only loss came in a close split-point decision at the ISKA Nationals, where he placed second and earned silver.
Twenty-eight-year-old Harry Stewart will contest a professional 68kg full Thai rules match. Mr Stewart has faced strong opponents in previous bouts and is aiming for his first major win.
PMT owner and head trainer Billy St John said both fighters were fully committed to their preparation.
“The boys train six days a week. They go through a number of different vigorous training exercises to get them fit and ready. Running, bag work, sparring, paid work, it all finds its place at the right time,” he said.
Mr St John described the gym as a family-oriented environment with programs for fighters, fitness and women-only classes.
“We’ve got families coming here and Muay Thai itself has deep roots in respect and honour and discipline,” he said.
Administrator Jilly Flegg said the close-knit training atmosphere was a defining feature of the gym.
“When you have everybody working in the same group at different levels, it helps to create that camaraderie,” she said.
People get more one-on-one time with coaches and experienced members help those less experienced,” she said.
The fighters’ participation in Road to Glory also showcases Cairn’s talent on a bigger stage.
“For a long time, Cairns really was restricted to only fighting other people from Cairns. It’s nice to be able to showcase the talent that comes from up here,” Mr St John said.
PMT will also provide a live stream of the event on its social media channels, allowing the community to follow the fighters’ progress.
