Creative designer Jesse Burton and content creator Sheridan Ireland both attended university in Brisbane before job offers from the FNQ marketing agency allowed them to pursue careers in their hometown.

Jesse joined the company in December after graduating from a Bachelor of Creative Industries at QUT, while Sheridan started in January following a Bachelor of Journalism, also at QUT.

Founder and Marketing Director of Adllins Media, Ange Collins said the company prides itself on being first and foremost for the local community.

“I’ve always had a passion to contribute positively to circular economies, so investing in the up-and-coming of our region who have left for further education and returned home is high on my agenda,” said Ange.

“Over the past four months we’ve employed two individuals who are third- and fourth-generation North Queenslanders, which is something I’m extremely proud of.

“Both Sheridan and Jesse are prime examples of the importance of encouraging educated minds to help build our FNQ community for the future.”

Sheridan said the job offer was a “dream come true”.

“Cairns was always my preference to live and work, but I’d accepted that I’d probably have to start my career somewhere else,” she said.

“When Ange reached out to me with this fantastic opportunity, I couldn’t believe my luck.

“I’ve got the job of my dreams and I’m doing it right here in my hometown surrounded by family and loved ones.

“I really couldn’t be happier.”

Jesse said while he enjoyed the change of lifestyle in Brisbane, the job offer from

Adllins was too good to pass up.

“Graphic design is a ridiculously hard to industry to get into, especially coming straight out of uni.

“On top of that, these sorts of times didn’t make it any easier, so I was more than excited to return to Cairns for this awesome job opportunity,” said Jesse.

“Due to the scarcity of these jobs, I was always going to take it, I was just lucky enough that it came at a good time when I was more than happy to come back home.

“When I finished high school I was ready for a change, but after four years I was keen to return to Cairns and settle down back here.”

The two new additions bring the Adllins team up to a total of 13 in a little over four years, with Ange hoping to bring more locals on board by the end of the year.
