How to celebrate everything we love about QLD
QUEENSLANDERS across the state are encouraged to mark QLD Day on 6 June in their own way – from backyard BBQs and cricket match to neighbourhood gathering s and community events. However you celebrate, every moment is a chance to come together, show your maroon pride and connect with what it means to be a proud Queenslander.

Whether you’re hosting a QLD Day event or joining one nearby, QLD Day is about celebrating local spirit and strengthening community connections – with every get-together, QLD Day party big or small, contributing to a statewide show of pride.

BBQ essentials: Throwing snags on the barbie is quintessentially Queensland. Keep it simple with quality steaks, sausages and fresh seafood, paired with local produce and seasonal salads – all available at your local IGA.
Set the mood: Host your own QLD Day party and build a QLD Day playlist featuring artists who call our state home.
Make it maroon: Show off your Queensland pride by dressing in maroon and decking out your space in our state’s colours.
QLD Day park run: Start your QLD Day on the right foot at a parkrun near you. Whether you run, walk or volunteer for 5km, you will be in a sea of maroon, with parkrun participants across Queensland encouraged to wear our state colour to celebrate.
Film festival: Celebrate the films made right here in Queensland. The stories you love, brought to life in our own backyard. The QLD Day Film Festival is a cinematic journey of six iconic movies for just $6. Sit back, relax and enjoy our homegrown talent on the big screen at a participating Five Star Cinema, with viewers encouraged to come in maroon.
