He’s taking the Mickey
DARWIN-born comedian Mickey Wilson is bringing his stand-up show ‘How Ya Goin’ On Tour’ to Cairns this week, performing at Macalister Brewing Co. on Thursday and Elixir Music House on Saturday 18 October.

Mr Wilson, who recently sold everything to tour full-time, describes the show as a mix of “funny family chaos” and personal storytelling.
“This show is all about myself, my family and experiences like having a newborn,” he said.
“I look inward, reflect on past experiences and share funny stories. There’s a lot of high-energy, relatable comedy in there.”
His online videos, particularly the viral “How Ya Goin’” clips, have resonated internationally, often helping people learn Australian slang while laughing along.
“It started as different types of waves and now it’s become this sort of bridge for international viewers, they get to understand what we mean when we say, ‘How ya goin’?’ while having a good laugh,” Mr Wilson said.
He said his passion for comedy came from the joy of giving people a break from their daily worries.
“If people can forget about any dramas or problems for an hour and just laugh, that’s unbeatable,” Mr Wilson said.
“Bringing that to audiences around the country is really special to me.”
Known for his raw, edgy and unpredictable style, Mr Wilson incorporates storytelling, observational humour and crowd work into every show.
“Every show is unique,” he said. “You never know what’s going to happen, and that’s the beauty of stand-up comedy. The charisma, the energy, it makes each performance one-of-a-kind.”
Despite Darwin being far from the usual comedy hubs, Mr Wilson praises its vibrant local scene.
“The community there is amazing, like a big family,” he said.
“Everyone gets behind local shows and supports live comedy. I’ve been lucky to sell out most of the gigs I’ve run over the last couple of years.”
