Grass is greener at this art exhibition
A BOLD new exhibition titled 'Green-Fields' is now on display at Mission Arts, featuring original works by five North Queensland artists known collectively as the 'green' painters.

Formed in 2010 as a group of 'fresh, raw, and untrained' artists, the green painters have since developed a strong following.
Their debut exhibition, Green, sold out in 24 hours. Follow-up exhibitions – Green As (2016), Greenish (2019), Not as Green (2021) and Greenwood (2023) – cemented their reputation for producing exciting, accessible art that continues to evolve.
Artist Patricia Voltz said “we’ve been painting over the past 18 months for this exhibition”.
She said the group thrived on its members’ individuality.
“We all have the passion to paint and express ourselves individually. The green artists have their own distinct styles and use different materials, colours and equipment to demonstrate this. Our diversity and evolving interests and approaches help keep us together and maintain us as a painting group.”
The latest exhibition features works by Carol Giuliany, Lynda Hannah-Williams, Bruce Parry, Sue Pullman, and Patricia Voltz. Each artist brings a different background and style to the collective, creating what they describe as a dynamic and supportive environment for artistic growth.
The exhibition was launched on Friday, July 18 and is now open daily from 10am-2pm until August 12 at Mission Arts Gallery, with artworks also available through an online store.
