Gorge run cancelled
THE Yalanji RAW fun run and walk at Mossman tomorrow (30 May) has been cancelled following a fatal car crash on the Captain Cook Highway at Oak Beach on Friday last week.

Cooya Beach woman Melissa “Kababina” Ryan, 34, and a baby died at the scene on the Captain Cook Highway about 4pm last Friday when the car Ms Ryan was driving was hit by another vehicle.
A Douglas Shire Council spokesman said council, along with the wider community, was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life following the crash.
“Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.

“Out of respect for community grieving and ‘sorry business’, council has made the decision to postpone Yalanji RAW at Mossman Gorge this Saturday.”
Council hopes to reschedule the reconciliation event later this year.
