Get ready to be spooked
EDGE Hill resident Melissa Raco has been delighting neighbourhood children with her Halloween display for more than 25 years.

What started as a small project with her own kids has grown into a full-blown spectacle, complete with 160 giveaways for visitors each year.
“I think it started when my kids were little,” Mrs Raco said.
“It was just something we enjoyed doing together and over the years it just got bigger and bigger.”
Her home at the end of Hutchinson Street has become a local hotspot each October, with families and teenagers returning year after year.
“Some teenagers who come now have been visiting since they were little. It’s just a regular thing,” she said.
Each year, Mrs Raco gets creative with new themes. Last year, she staged a wedding-themed display inspired by her daughter’s engagement. This year, skeletons take centre stage.
The 160 giveaways, mostly packaged lollies, are carefully prepared and distributed with the help of a longtime friend.
“We make sure every kid gets a little treat,” Mrs Raco said.
She enjoys seeing the excitement of families as they visit her display.
“The kids are so excited running up the street and it’s great to see families enjoying it together,” she said.
The display is now fully set up, with lights and decorations ready to welcome Halloween visitors.
