Gardens grow alongside city
OUR tropical paradise is reflected in our gardens.
From the earliest recreation reserves to the hundreds of parks, playgrounds, sports fields and natural areas we enjoy today, Cairns parks and gardens mirror the pioneering and outdoors-loving spirit of Cairns.
Whether it’s kicking a footy, walking the dog, riding a bike, enjoying a family barbecue, attending a community event, exercising with friends or simply finding a shady spot to relax, parks are woven into everyday life in Cairns.
They are the places where children learn to ride bikes, families gather on weekends and communities come together to celebrate.
Some of our most loved spaces, including the Cairns Esplanade, Centenary Lakes, Cairns Botanic Gardens, Flecker Gardens, Munro Martin Parklands and Cattana Wetlands, have become part of the region’s identity, welcoming locals and visitors alike.
Beyond the major destinations, there are hundreds of local parks that quietly support daily life across the region.
