The fundraising campaign, The Blue Highway, took place on Thursday 22 October, as part of AusArt Day, Creative Australia’s national fundraising initiative for artists and arts organisations.

Funds raised will help cover travel, freight and presentation costs for Queensland First Nations artists and their work, including opportunities being developed for Art Central Hong Kong from 24-28 March 2027.

CIAF artistic director Teho Ropeyarn said the campaign would build on international relationships formed earlier this year.

“We have begun building the relationships. Now we’re asking our community to help us take the next step,” he said.

“Getting artwork overseas takes freight, travel and resources to present it properly.

Supported by the CAGES Foundation, CIAF representatives visited Hong Kong earlier this year to build relationships.
