THE centre of town will come alive this weekend with ‘Live + Local: City Sounds’, a celebration of local live music across five locations in the CBD.

The event features headline performances from Pauly P, Candice Bliss, The Joker Pokers, Bobby Longstaff and Tullara. It is part of the 2025 Cairns Music Industry Gathering, which highlights Far North Queensland’s thriving live music scene.

The weekend-long celebration is part of the national Live + Local program. It aims to support emerging talent, activate local venues and grow audiences for the region’s live music scene.

The Hospo Group co-founder Andrew Pare said the event showcased the power of collaboration between venues.

“City Sounds shows what is possible when Cairns’s venues work together. We are collaborating and turning the city block into one big live music experience together,” he said.

“It’s great for business, but even better for the community. This is what Cairns is all about and I hope this is just the beginning of many more to come.”

Mayor Amy Eden said the event was an essential part of the city’s cultural identity.

“On the back of the success of Live + Local Stratford Sounds earlier this year, we know the people of Cairns want more and we are bringing it,” she said.

The venues include Three Wolves, Mexicairns, Coral Sea Brewing, The Chambers and Bank Lane – all in the Cairns CBD.
