Free cooking program available again
‘EASY eat for less’, a recent initiative at Mossman Support Services, was originally set up last year in response to rising cost-of-living pressures and was a great success

Once again, the free cooking program is underway, helping locals to learn new skills.
“We will be cooking affordable, healthy and delicious meals using organic and locally produced ingredients,” said community development officer Tahnee De Brueys.
As part of this new program, vegan and vegetarian variations will also be demonstrated, with therapeutic benefits, purchasing and growing tips shared throughout. All meals will be gluten and dairy free.
The latest series of cooking workshops will be coordinated by Bianca Baldissera, whose love for cooking started when living and travelling throughout southeast Asia a few years ago.
Since having children, the healthy benefits of cooking also became of interest with much of her cuisine being Asian inspired, using home-grown and locally-produced food when possible.
Her vision now is to transform nutritious ingredients into delicious meals by providing group or individual cooking demonstrations, plus cooking meals to accommodate for restricted diets.
“This is an opportunity to take home amazing recipes and meet people with a shared interest,” Ms Baldissera said.
The new series of workshops, which include Vietnamese pho, Indonesian and Korean rice dishes, will start on Monday May 11 and will run every Monday and Tuesday from 9.30am to 12.30pm, for six weeks.
