Focus on the Americas
TOURISM Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD), together with Tourism and Events Queensland, have been promoting Port Douglas and Daintree to key travel partners across Canada and the United States.

Preparing for the roadshow in Vancouver, TPDD executive officer Emma Tunnock (right) said “this is a timely and important opportunity to strengthen our presence in these international markets.”
This trip is intended to further strengthen the already high visitation year experienced thus far in 2026.
“While we continue to experience seasonal fluctuations, what has been particularly encouraging this year has been the strength of our traditional peak season, along with positive signs that this momentum is extending across a longer period of the year” Ms Tunnock said.
“Port Douglas and Daintree benefits from a very loyal visitor base and strong repeat visitation, with word of mouth remaining incredibly important. We’ve also maintained a significant destination marketing presence in our key interstate markets, particularly Melbourne and Sydney, as well as activity in New Zealand, our largest international source market.
“Our destination campaigns are specifically timed to stimulate demand across our shoulder and traditionally softer periods. This year we’ve maintained a significant presence in Melbourne and Sydney through outdoor, radio and digital activity, designed to build destination awareness, desire and intent, alongside conversion activity that provides a direct pathway to booking” Ms Tunnock said.
Overall, the belief at TPDD is that the strength of the destination brand, sustained marketing, events, encouraging international demand and an industry that continues to deliver great visitor experiences.
“This all contributes to the destination’s performance and give people compelling reasons to return” Ms Tunnock said.
“The strength we’ve seen through the peak season and the positive signs of momentum extending across a longer period are encouraging.
“Our focus remains firmly on maintaining that momentum, while supporting the long-term growth, resilience and positioning of Port Douglas and Daintree as a leading visitor destination”.
Ms Tunnock believes an important focus is continuing to encourage visitation through the summer and autumn months.
“These are fantastic times to experience Port Douglas and Daintree, with the landscape at its most lush and vibrant, warm tropical conditions and a different rhythm to the destination.”
