Films showcase cycling
CYCLING enthusiasts will be the first in Australia to see the 2026 edition of ‘The Big Bike Film Night’ when the international film festival rolls into Cairns.

The 2.5-hour programme will screen at Event Cinemas Cairns Central on Wednesday 29 July, with Cairns hosting the opening event of the Australian tour.
Founded in Taupō, New Zealand in 2015, The Big Bike Film Night has grown into an international festival celebrating cycling through a collection of short films curated by New Zealander Brett Cotter.
Mr Cotter said this year’s programme featured 10 films showcasing cycling adventures, personal challenges and inspiring stories from around the world.
“Stories are at the heart of everything, and our dazzling 2026 collection features ten mesmerising films; each as dynamic and diverse as you could hope for, and all ready to spin your wheels,” he said.
“Audiences will be transported from gravel adventures in the South Island of New Zealand to the breathtaking landscapes of Norway.”
The Cairns screening begins at 7 pm at Event Cinemas Cairns Central and marks the start of the national tour.
