Festive plants on sale
START your Christmas shopping on Sunday 7 December with green gifts for everyone at the massive plant sale in Edge Hill.
The Friends of the Botanic Gardens Cairns annual Christmas plant sale will run from 8am to noon in the Saltwater Lakes area, Greenslopes St.
On offer will be trees, palms, shrubs, creepers and climbers including hoyas, hanging baskets and a variety of goeppertias, indoor and understory plants. Rhizomes and potted plants of gingers and heliconias are also available, with prices starting at $8.
FOBG volunteer Lee Ross said the friends would also be on hand to help with advice.
“So get in early and grab all your green gifts for Christmas,” she said.
“All funds raised go towards buying plants and infrastructure, such as seating, to make the gardens an even better attraction for locals and visitors.
“We are a volunteer group who have been propagating plants for sale for more than 20 years.”
The closest parking for Saltwater Lake is on Greenslopes St. Look for signs, with an access path opposite Little St, near Cominos House.
