Feedback sought on new Cazalys venue
CAZALYS is seeking the community’s input into its Cazalys Northside development on the former Tjapukai site at Smithfield.

The Cazalys Northside project is expected to create more than 120 new jobs and generate close to $20 million each year for the local economy, while reactivating a culturally significant location with respect and care.
Cazalys general manager Jason Wale said the application had reached a new milestone.
“Cazalys Cairns is pleased to confirm continued progress on the Cazalys Northside development,” he said.
“The club is excited by the momentum behind the proposal”.
The Northside site was bought for $10 million following the closure of the former Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
The club’s long-term vision is to transform the area into a relaxed, family-friendly hospitality and community precinct for the northern suburbs of Cairns. It has a budget of about $20m
The proposal includes a mix of venues and spaces designed to suit locals and visitors alike, including a café, restaurant, sports bar, areas for children and families and landscaped outdoor environments that retain and celebrate the site’s lush natural setting.
“Cazalys Cairns continues to grow as a future-focused, community-driven organisation in Far North Queensland, with development projects that support regional sport, create local jobs and strengthen community connection.” Mr Wale said.
“The acquisition of the Tjapukai site reflects that commitment. As a not-for-profit club,
“Cazalys reinvests earnings back into the community through sponsorships, partnerships and donations to local initiatives and sporting organisations.”
The community is encouraged to view the public notification information on P37 of today’s paper and participate through the formal feedback process.
