Family fun on the southside
CAIRNS families are invited to enjoy an action-packed afternoon when the much-loved South Side Celebration returns to Ravizza Park for a fifth year of free, family-friendly entertainment.

From 2pm on September 5, children of all ages can take on ‘The Beast Xtreme Fun Run’ – a 25m inflatable obstacle course sure to test skill, speed and determination.
Younger visitors can enjoy free face painting, meet Bugzy Bumblebee with her bubble-filled fun, and get up close with fascinating creatures at Roaming Wild’s interactive animal display.
Sports lovers can join Loughton 40 Hoops on the basketball court from 3.30pm, while Our Future Mentors and The Fire Project will host Edor Games on the field. Visitors can browse community information stalls, enjoy food vans and tuck into a free sausage sizzle.
The stage program includes performances by Sumaringa Dance Troupe, Zumba with Nerine, Cairns Southside Youth Concert Band, Mulgrave Dance, and Drum Mugendai.
As the sun sets, Cairns Regional Council hosts a free open air movie night showing the heart-warming Australian film ‘Runt’.
