Lucky invites Cairns kids on an epic adventure

CAIRNS Children’s Festival 2022 will host the world premiere of Lucky and the flight of the Sky Puppies, a delightfully thought-provoking theatre production created in response to a local news story about the relocation of a Spectacled Flying Fox and the importance of caring for the environment.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, Cairns audiences wwill meet Lucky – a lovable flying fox character created and produced for the stage by Simone Tesorieri, Simona Cosentini and Jason Klarwein, starring Benjin Maza, Agnes Bani, and Mark Sheppard.

An Italian duo who both attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, Simone Tesorieri and Simona Cosentini, arrived in Cairns in 2012 and, since then, have made an impressive mark on Queensland’s theatre scene for their set and costume design in many theatre productions.

Lucky is a lovable character conceived and developed by Simone during the 2020 lockdown.

It all started with a news story that captured Simone’s attention and sparked his imagination to begin sketching a series of vignettes, which was developed into an epic adventure brought to life by a cast of characters.

While the production has been developed for a young audience, it does carry an important message about the impact of development on the environment and the importance of protecting nature.

“We want Lucky to change people’s perceptions about how they view wildlife and conservation,” Ms Cosentini said.

Tickets from $15 per person or $50 for a family (two adults, two children) from Ticketlink,  www.ticketlink.com.au
