Breaky by the beach

There’s something magical about Palm Cove. It reminds me of Noosa in the early 2010’s. Very hip, very laid back and coming of age in the food and café stakes

Leading the charge in quality relaxed café dining must be Espresso and Co Cafe.

A real gem, with a menu and quality that you would expect to find in Noosa now or even Manly in Sydney, but definitely without the southern price tag. David Calcagno – owner of Espresso and Co Cafe in Palm Cove believes their commitment to local quality ingredients, friendly service and great coffee, are key to their success.

“We source our produce locally and selected nothing but the finest quality. Our bacon come from Marshes Butcher here in Cairns and is locally cured from meat raised on the Tablelands.

“Our eggs are all free-range and local and where possible all our juices and smoothies use local fruits and feature 100% fruit,” said David. I must admit, the Sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms was my favourite especially with the poached egg and bacon on the side.

There’s something magical about sitting outdoors on a beautiful morning and enjoying a freshly squeezed orange juice and watching Palm Cove come to life on a Sunday morning.

The Baked House Eggs was also a popular choice at the table. The spicy tomato sauce with beans, a corn tortilla and two eggs. This was a feast and set the day off on the right foot.

You feel part of the street but also removed back from the hustle, enjoying the characters of the town and the tourists as they go about their daily business.

It certainly is a ‘people-watching haven’ with some of the finest breakfasts and lunches in Palm Cove. Espresso & Co Cafe in Palm Cove are open 7 days a week from 6:30am to 4pm. www.espressoandco.com.au Facebook - Espressoandcocafebar Instagram #espressoandcocafebar
