BOTANIC GARDENS HOSTS STARRY NIGHT CINEMA

Popular picnic cinema partnership returns

The school holidays will see the launch of the 2021 Starry Night Cinema series in the Cairns Botanic Gardens. End Credits Film Club and The Friends Of The Botanic Gardens continue their fundraising partnership presenting a variety of family friendly and popular date night film titles where patrons are welcome to byo picnic or sample fare from the onsite vendors.

Family friendly films TOY STORY 4 (Jul 3) and JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL (Jul 10) launch the series followed by the Elton John biopic ROCKETMAN (Jul 31) with Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchette leading the all-female star cast of OCEANS 8 (Aug 7).

The Academy Award accredited FLICKERFEST SHORT FILM TOUR is the highlight event for September returning with an expanded two-night festival of the BEST AUSTRALIAN (Sep 10) and SHORT LAUGHS (Sep17) programs direct from the 30th anniversary Bondi 2021 event.

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (Oct 30) fans will be delighted to know the annual mad cap, dress-up, sing-along, cinema experience returns after 2020’s covid hiatus so we can all at last do The Time Warp again.

There’ll be even more contemporary and classic titles announced soon as work continues to carry the program through to December. The full list is available to view at
