The line-up in the Paramour big top includes a mix of performances aimed at a wide audience, from a family-friendly stage hypnotist to burlesque, comedy and activities designed for younger audiences, alongside the cabaret’s signature variety show.

The entertainment program begins with the opening night launch party on 15 May, featuring a DJ and circus-style roving performers.

Wes Evans, co-owner of Cairns-based The Paramour Cabaret, said the team was looking forward to bringing the show to the event.

“We are ready to bring the party,” Mr Evans said.

“We have brought the tent to Port Douglas before and it was received really well, but this time, along with the opening night event, we are bringing an all-new cabaret show, with its debut at Carnivale,” he said.

One of the headline acts, ‘Happy Hour’, is an adult-oriented show (18+) running from 21-24 May.

Hosted by cabaret character Sylvester Valentine, the performance is staged in the round and focuses on audience interaction.

“It’s all about having fun and leaving your inhibitions at the door,” Mr Evans said.

“It’s really interactive, so audience members should come along with their dance shoes on, ready to be up and dancing right off the bat.”

Other performances include ‘Barefoot & Burlesque’, a 60-minute show on May 16 and 17, as well as a one-night-only stand-up comedy night and a live hypnotist show.

A new addition to the program, ‘Blast Lab’, will present a family-friendly science show on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May, featuring live experiments and audience participation.

Mr Evans said the aim was to provide a variety of entertainment options throughout the event.
