Earlville set to ‘flip you out’
THE former Target store at Earlville Shopping Town is to be transformed into a new retail and entertainment destination, including five new and two relocated retailers, a family entertainment venue and associated mall upgrades.
Works include reconfiguration of existing space, tenancy fit-outs, base building works and enhancements to create a contemporary mini-major precinct.
TK Maxx, Toymate, Baby Bunting and Flip Out will be part of the new space, alongside an expanded JB Hi-Fi. Others have yet to be announced.
Centre management says the property “is set for its biggest transformation in years, creating a vibrant new chapter for one of Cairns’ most established shopping destinations”.
Fawkner Property’s head of shopping centres Lou Martin said “this important milestone is an exciting next chapter for Earlville Shopping Town”.
“The redevelopment is focused on giving our shoppers more of what they want – more choice, more experiences and greater convenience, all in one destination,” she said
“Earlville has been an important part of the Cairns community for over 40 years and this redevelopment is about ensuring it continues to evolve and remain a destination that people want to visit.”
Trampoline park chain Flip Out Australia and New Zealand managing director Steven Stone said “Flip Out is all about bringing people together through active, unforgettable experiences”.
“We can’t wait to welcome Cairns families, schools, sporting clubs and community groups through our doors and become part of the local community,” he said.
Toymate owner and founder Danny Bloom said the new store “marks another exciting step in Toymate’s continued growth across Australia and strengthens our presence in Queensland”.
“We can’t wait to bring the Toymate experience to local families, with an amazing range of toys, games, collectables, outdoor play and all the biggest brands kids know and love,” he said.
Local contractor Collins Constructions has been appointed to complete the base building works and is already on site.
A centre spokeswoman said each incoming retailer would hire their own contractors for individual tenancy fit-outs.
“The new retailers and entertainment operators will create additional ongoing employment opportunities for the local community once the precinct is open and trading,” she said.
Exact job numbers and redevelopment costs were not disclosed.
