It all began in October 2015, when the husband-and-wife team bought Aztec Security Screens from John Bateman.

At the time, Ms Bailey had already built a strong background in manufacturing through her years at Discount Curtains, but she was ready for a new challenge.

Determined and hands-on, she learned how to build security screens and windows from the ground up.

“The early days were humble but full of heart. Working from a small, hot, non-insulated workshop with only a basic Makita drop saw and a manual lever lock punch, I started crafting top-quality security doors and windows,” she said.

“As a result, we had the exclusive backing of our supplier Commandex for the North Queensland region, producing stainless steel security screens that set the benchmark for strength and style.

“With just one installer – driving the memorable VZ V8 Commodore – we began to earn a reputation for precision and reliability.

“The focus was always on quality over quantity, with each screen custom-made to perfection, every lock operating smoothly and every screw carefully painted.

“That same attention to detail remains the foundation of our success today.”

As business grew, so did the family involvement. Lorraine’s daughter Niki joined the team to manage the office, and soon after, Cliff came on board full-time.

Before long, Aztec expanded into two sheds, then three, adding custom gates and fencing to their product range.

Recognising the growing need for integrated home security, Niki further developed the Gotech division – the installation of security cameras and alarm systems.

Operating from the same Manunda location, the two businesses now work hand-in-hand to provide complete home and business security solutions under one roof.

Fast forward to today, Aztec Security Screens has grown into a thriving local operation with 12 skilled staff, four installer vehicles and a modern manufacturing workshop.

From their base in Manunda, the team continues to deliver the highest standards of quality, service and security to the Cairns community.

“As we celebrate this special anniversary, we extend heartfelt thanks to our loyal customers, suppliers and hardworking team who’ve supported our journey over the past decade,” the Baileys said.
