Dead rising to occasion
CAIRNS is set for a spine-tingling and music-packed celebration this October and November, as the Reef ‘Wreath’ Hotel Casino launches its ‘Hell–O–Week’, featuring a mix of ‘Day of the Dead’ festivities and ‘Killer Queen’ live for Halloween.

Day of the Dead
Celebrate Mexico’s iconic Día de los Muertos with international vocalist Ruban Larregui and traditional dancers Latin Roots and Ollin Yoliztli, direct from Mexico.
Cairns locals and visitors can enjoy the vibrant sounds and colours of Mexican culture, with live performances from Kanela, fusing traditional Latin rhythms with contemporary tunes.
Festivities take place in ‘BAR3666’:
29 and 30 October from 7.30pm – live music, dancing and authentic Mexican flavours.
2 November from 5 pm – dress up for a Sexy Salsa Sunday Session featuring live music, DJs, margaritas, mojitos, tacos and all the spirit of welcoming back the souls for a brief reunion of food, drink and dance.
This is a real Fiesta Latina, combining traditional Latin music, dance and vibrant Mexican culture for an unforgettable celebration.
Killer Queen
For those seeking a rock ‘n’ roll thrill, Killer Queen returns to the Reef Hotel Casino for two nights of Halloween mayhem.
Performing in BAR36 from 8.30pm, this world-renowned Queen tribute band brings the legendary hits to life, including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Somebody to Love’, ‘Radio Ga Ga’ and many more.
Killer Queen has performed to sold-out audiences across the UK, Norway, Singapore, Russia, India and Australia, sharing stages with legends like Jeff Beck, Journey, Twisted Sister and Kelly Rowland.
Band lead John Blunt is globally acclaimed for his uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury, having famously portrayed the icon in the UK biopic ‘The Freddie Mercury Story – Who Wants to Live Forever’ (2016) and the Australian film ‘Seriously Red’ (2021).
This year, Killer Queen promises a spooky twist for Halloween, with BAR36 staff and the production team joining forces to present a Killer Halloween party from beyond the grave.
