Daisy driven by care and patience
FOR Sukhvinda (Sukhi) Singh, Driving Miss Daisy Cairns Northern Beaches is far more than a business – it is a heartfelt commitment to caring for people when they need it most.

Before launching Driving Miss Daisy, Mr Singh worked as an Uber driver, where he regularly transported elderly passengers and people with mobility challenges.
During those journeys, he noticed something deeply concerning: many clients needed more than just a ride. They needed time, patience, understanding and genuine human connection. Too often, they were rushed, anxious or made to feel like an inconvenience.
That experience planted the seed for what would become Driving Miss Daisy Cairns Northern Beaches.
“I realised there was a real gap in services. People didn’t just need transport, they needed someone who truly cared,” Mr Singh said.
In early 2025, he took a leap of faith and launched Driving Miss Daisy in the Cairns Northern Beaches region, bringing with him a strong people-first mindset and a deep respect for seniors, people living with disability and vulnerable members of the community.
Today, the service proudly supports clients across Cairns, Kuranda, Port Douglas and Mossman, ensuring safe, reliable and compassionate transport throughout the region.
“Driving Miss Daisy is a companion driving service, supporting clients not only from A to B, but every step of the way,” Mr Singh said.
“Services include medical and therapy appointments, shopping and errands, social outings, lifestyle activities, community engagement, day trips and regional travel,” he said.
“The service is also pet-friendly, helping clients attend veterinary appointments with their beloved animals.
“What truly sets Driving Miss Daisy apart is the consistency of care. Clients are supported by familiar faces, travel at their own pace and are treated with dignity, empathy and respect.
“We’re family when family can’t be there.”
Mr Singh is known for his calm presence, warm nature and genuine compassion.
He believes in treating every client the way he would want his own family treated – with patience, kindness and care.
Whether easing nerves before a hospital appointment or sharing a friendly conversation over coffee, he strives to make each journey feel safe and reassuring.
While running a small business comes with challenges, Mr Singh remains motivated by the positive impact he makes each day and the relationships he builds with clients and their families.
Based in the Cairns Northern Beaches, Driving Miss Daisy proudly supports the local community by helping clients remain independent, confident and socially connected.
“This business is built on care, trust and relationships – and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a wonderful community,” Mr Singh said.
