From 6pm to 7.30pm, Monday to Saturdays, Night at the Aquarium will take visitors through all the aquarium’s exhibitions in an immersive nighttime experience with infra-red and ultraviolet spectrum lighting on the living displays followed by a two course chef-prepared dinner in the aquarium’s Dundee’s restaurant.

Cairns Aquarium chief executive Daniel Leipnik said the new experience would cater to the booming international tourist market.

“Night at the Aquarium has been six months in the making, and it has been developed especially for that large international market, which is flocking back to Cairns. This is normally a market that is really busy during the day going to the Reef or rainforest,” he said.

“So, this is an experience for those people who are looking for additional activities at nighttime.

“I particularly think it’s perfect for families with kids who are looking to run away from the heat and enjoy an afterhours activity that doesn’t go until too late.”

Mr Leipnik said what made the experience unique was the setting which guaranteed that visitors will get to see the animals come alive at night.
