COUCH name change
THE COUCH Wellness Centre will take a new name and a refreshed logo into the future aimed at better reflecting its expanded services.
After much consideration the board of Cairns Organisation United for Cancer Health is renaming its Manoora base, off Reservoir Road, COUCH Cancer Hub NQ.
COUCH director and head of fundraising and marketing Daniel Hughes said the change would better reflect what the centre offered – coordinated, holistic support to people affected by cancer at every stage of their journey.
“At the hub clients can access health professionals, evidence-based therapies, information and workshops and connect socially with others – all under the one roof,” he said.
The hub introduced GP services in June for the first time with Dr Helen Hobson consulting on Mondays, with lymphoedema massage to become available through therapist Tess Godfrey from August 22 on Fridays.
COUCH chairman Dr Scott Davis said while conversations with new Leichhardt MP Matt Smith about future core funding were ongoing, the organisation was largely dependent on the community which had stepped up its support.
