Coping with menopause
AUSTRALIAN author, TV personality, parents’ rights advocate and humanitarian aid worker Jacqueline Pascarl is now turning her attention to menopause.

The 62-year-old is hosting a women’s workshop at Port Douglas later this year using her certification in menopause health and expertise in sleep.
She wants to assist women in regional Australia with their medical issues after a chat with a FNQ woman about women’s health in the region.
“That simple interaction triggered – ‘No More Rehearsals’ – a workshop at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas, on women’s health, sleep, empowerment and menopause resilience on November 9 this year,” Ms Pascarl said.
“Open to the community, it’s aimed at unlocking vital information on female wellness and addressing the gaps in information that women need,” she said.
“Not only that, I’ve recruited a stellar panel of other experts to make empowerment and discussion a ‘one stop’ day of information.
“Remember, women can begin perimenopause 10-12 years before the actual onset of menopause itself, sometimes as early as 34, and certainly earlier if we are talking cancer treatments and gynaecological surgery.
“It’s during those years that they need the most support, a toolkit and roadmap on what to expect and how to cope.
“Muscle strength, bone health and mental wellness needs to be established in your 30s to better cope in your 60s and beyond, it’s vital to our relationships, work and cardiac health and even our love life.”
Other panellists are:
The Snore Fix Doctor Dr Ian Maratos, an expert in sleep, snoring and apnoea
Emeritus Professor Dr Michael J Bennett, former head of obstetrics and gynaecology, University of New South Wales and Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick, Sydney
TV personality and respected criminal psychologist, Tim Watson-Munro
Coach Amy from LiftHer Gym, Port Douglas, will be offering practical advice on osteoporosis prevention and strength
Petra Kupkova from Yoga in the Tropics Port Douglas will be contributing tips on flexibility and balance to ensure women keep their mobility and dignity.

Part of the proceeds are going to the Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia where Ms Pascarl once worked repairing women’s birthing injuries.
