QBANK wants everyday heroes
After an extraordinarily challenging two years, QBANK today proudly launches it’s 2021 Everyday Heroes Awards. The event recognises and celebrates the hard work, dedication and exceptional service of our Queensland Frontline and Public Service workers.
With nominations officially open today, 2021 marks the seventh year QBANK will host its flagship event, which aims to encourage the Queensland community to recognise and nominate our unsung community heroes for their outstanding contributions and service.
Acknowledging the efforts of our Emergency and Public services, the QBANK Everyday Heroes Awards celebrate the selfless acts of all nominees and category winners, following nominations made by their peers and the community.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 event was cancelled. This year, the awards event will welcome nominations from across both 2020 and 2021, to ensure the efforts of individuals and groups have been captured and given the acknowledgement they deserve.
QBANK CEO Mike Currie said after a tough 2020, the program is the perfect opportunity to honour frontline service workers who put their lives on the line for their community.
“Over the past two years, as a nation we have experienced a global pandemic, floods, fires and extreme weather, all of these testing our community with challenges no one could foresee. It has been incredible to see the Queensland community, supported by our dedicated frontline service, band together through it all,” Mr Currie said.
“Although going above and beyond is business as usual for those who protect, serve and heal our communities, the awards program aims to recognise their vital role within our community and give us the chance to thank them for everything they do.”
Since inception, exposure of the QBANK Everyday Heroes Awards has continued to increase, capturing the attention of more people who want to nominate extraordinary people in our community and due to the challenging times presented over the last 24 months, entries to the 2021 awards are expected to increase significantly from 2019.
The six award categories include Achievement, Ownership, Dedication, Working Together, Excellence and the Young Everyday Hero Award.
Award recipients, who are selected by seven highly respected judges have proven track records of professional commitment and community dedication, commonly through fundraising and charity work, supporting the vulnerable or disadvantaged, mentoring and leadership or spreading community awareness.
The five category award winners will each receive a $1,000 cash deposit and $1,000 donated to their charity of choice. The young Everyday Heroes award winner will receive a $500 bursary to assist with training and development.
