More than 90 residents attended the event in support of the 2020 Mayor’s Xmas Appeal, with Salsa donating $20 from every ticket sale.  The generosity continued with guests digging deep to participate in the raffle which raised a further $2,000 for the Appeal.

Guests were treated to Salsa’s finest with a delicious four-course luncheon, and exceptional hospitality making for a magical afternoon.  Local radio host, Paul Makin from FAB FM, conducted the formalities as MC for the afternoon, whilst local artists, Jennifer and Aaron, delighted guests with their live performance.

In a great show of community spirit, the total raised from the inaugural event reached $3,840, a meaningful contribution towards Christmas hampers to help those doing it tough in our community this festive season.

Mayor Michael Kerr said the event was a true celebration of community spirit. “I have been blown away by the generosity of our community. Locals from all walks including business owners, local workers, and retired residents – many who are doing it tough themselves – have bound together and dug deep.” he said.

“Their generosity will help provide Christmas hampers for fellow locals who have been hit especially hard by the COVID lock downs this year.  The spirit and kindness on display yesterday makes me incredibly proud and humbled to serve as Mayor to the Douglas community.”
