Nationwide, various “Pink Events” are held throughout October. Originally inspired by the passing of Jane McGrath, the McGrath Foundation was founded as a breast cancer support and education charity in Australia, which raises money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and increase breast health awareness.

“Our Pink Picnic will promote both the Innisfail Breast Cancer Support Group as they continue to support ladies in the Cassowary Coast area who have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and the Cancer Council, who support people affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

With a range of free activities that will include health and support information, spring garden flower stall, fibre weaving, children’s activities and Nature Play, along with Forage, Fibre and Garden tours.

Refreshments will be available throughout the event with a Garden Harvest Lunch served at noon," said JRCG Inc President Bernard Holden.

The JRCG can be accessed via the Diverse Learning Centre entrance to the Innisfail State College off Flying Fish point Road.
