A roaring good time at Tropical Art Deco Festival
THE Tropical Art Deco Festival has wrapped up for another year and the beloved events were once again the talk of the town from local community and visitors who attended events.
Jazz, sequins, dancing, and all things vintage were abundant over the five days of events with the Cocktail Cruises, Art Deco trivia, vintage markets, Innisfail Shire Hall guided tour and Council’s supported ‘Movie Under the Stars’ showing The Great Gatsby, proving extremely popular to attendees.
Tropical Art Deco Festival spokeswoman Kerry Linton
said she was very pleased with the number of people in attendance over the five
days with some event numbers
exceeding expectations. The commitment to costume and dressing the part were also very pleasing.
“The fashions were spectacular. The community went to quite a lot of effort to dress the part, especially at the cocktail party and high tea. Overall, I’m really happy with the outcome,” said Ms Linton.
Councillor and Community and Culture portfolio holder Trudy Tschui said the Art Deco Festival and its events set us apart as a region and is pleased to see it celebrated in such grandeur each year.
“The events had something to peak everyone’s interest. The trivia night was great fun and with some obvious competitive rivalry between teams in proving their art deco and historical knowledge. The high tea showcased local talent with a fashion parade, dance performances, and music and the vintage market had many treasures to be found.
“The Innisfail Shire Hall guided tour was also very popular as it showcased the Shire Hall’s architectural beauty and Innisfail township history.
“Overall, it was a very successful week and I want to thank everyone who was involved in the organisation of each event,” said councillor Tschui.
