City Lions’ new coach
CAIRNS City Lions have welcomed Scott Riordan as their new senior coach, joining the club with his wife Mikhala and their sons Noah and Seth.

He brings extensive experience to the role, having played more than 250 games of A-grade football.
His career highlights include serving as senior premiership captain at Coolangatta Football Club in 2022, senior playing coach and premiership coach at Coolangatta in 2023–2024, senior captain at Phillip Island Football Club from 2011 to 2013 and senior playing assistant coach at Phillip Island, which won the premiership in 2014.
He has also received numerous representative honours and team of the year selections throughout his career.
The Riordans are keen to contribute to the club’s family-focused environment.
“Scott and his family are eager to get involved in our community and contribute to the family-focused environment we all value,” the club said.
Mr Riordan said he was ready to begin work on and off the field.
He plans to maintain a strong senior squad while developing junior talent, introduce fresh training approaches, challenge players to reach their full potential and collaborate with all grade coaches to foster a one-club culture.
“My goal is to build a team that is not only competitive but united, resilient and proud to wear the City Lions colours,” he said.
