From comic books and manga to mixed media and printmaking, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

  • Comic book and manga course (ages 13-18): Aspiring comic and manga creators can bring their stories and characters to life in an eight-week course with Lachlan Judd of Judd Comics. Students will learn essential skills such as character design, storyboarding, pencilling, inking, colouring and lettering. Beginners can pick up the basics, while more experienced artists can refine their techniques and expand their artistic toolkit. The course runs on Thursdays from 16 October to 4 December, 3.30-5pm.

  • Mixed media for younger artists (ages 5-9): For younger artists, the gallery is offering a six-week mixed media course designed to introduce children to a variety of art forms, including drawing, painting and collage. Students will learn about line, shape, space, form, texture and colour while developing their skills in a fun, supportive environment. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 14 October to 18 November, 3.30-5pm.

  • Mixed media with Jamie Lee Simpson (ages 9-14): Older students can take their art to the next level with a six-week mixed media course led by artist Jamie Lee Simpson. Participants will explore inks, pastels, watercolour, coloured pencils, graphite and charcoal, while working in a visual art diary and learning techniques such as collage, perspective drawing and colour theory. Classes are on Wednesdays from 15 October to 19 November, 3.30-5pm.

All materials are provided, and to encourage independent learning, parents and carers are asked not to remain in the classroom during sessions.

Term 4 classes are open to non-members but membership offers priority booking and discounted pricing.

In addition to classes, visitors can explore a wide range of exhibitions currently on display, including works by Tania Major, Sally Gabori, Albert Namatjira, Fred Williams, and the gallery’s Skinship collection, which is in focus.
