Cash splash for art groups
SEVEN arts projects across Cairns will receive funding to deliver new exhibitions, performances, workshops and creative developments under the latest round of the Regional Arts Development Fund.

Cairns Regional Council has approved $78,970 in funding through the 2025/26 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) major round one to support initiatives that nurture local talent, strengthen cultural identity and deliver arts experiences for the community.
The program is delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government and aims to enrich and expand the region’s arts and cultural landscape.
Cairns Mayor Amy Eden said the successful projects reflected the strength of the local arts sector and the council’s commitment to creative development.
“These projects highlight the extraordinary talent we have right here in Cairns. When we support local artists, we strengthen our cultural identity and fuel a creative pipeline that delivers new opportunities, enriches our community and inspires future generations,” Cr Eden said.
Funding recipients in this round include Anni Hagberg ($11,570), Circa Contemporary Circus Company ($12,000), JUTE Theatre Company ($12,000), Klara Jane Royster ($7400), Mx Melanie Stevens ($12,000), Naygayiw Gigi Indigenous Corporation ($12,000) and Rachel Terry ($12,000).
Projects include intergenerational collaboration, circus workshops, touring opportunities, environmental digital art and Torres Strait Islander dance theatre.
