The $5000 payments are designed to help businesses across the state impacted by the recent south – east corner lockdown.

The $5000 grants accompany a range of business support packages including the Business Basics, Business Boost and Business Growth grant programs, the free Mentoring for Growth service, the Queensland government's record investment in employment and training program and access to the Queensland Small Business Commissioner who is available to provide support and advice.

'I encourage Cook - electorate businesses to head to business.qld.gov.au/supportgrant to make sure they’re taking full advantage of the range of support available in addition to these $5,000 payments,' Ms Lui said.

'Small business is the backbone of the Cook economy. I recognise the recent lockdown will be impacting local business and that this is not a one - off shock - it's part of a larger series of shocks business owners have been managing for the last 18 months.

'I hope this payment, along with the other supports and programs the Queensland government has put in place, will go some way towards easing the pressure on Cook businesses.'

Applications for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants grants will open in mid-August.
