BEX is back - Recognising excellence

The Cairns Chamber of Commerce BEX Awards are on again in 2021 continuing to recognise excellence in the business community.

Nominations open on Thursday 22 July and business professionals are encouraged to submit nominations.

People can self-nominate, and we encourage the community to nominate and someone who they feel is an excellent businessperson.

The BEX awards is a process of personal growth by reflecting on areas such as past challenges and accomplishments, professional development and excellence, community contribution and innovation.

“Business is about growth in many areas from personal to business growth to being part of a healthy community, and for us it is very much about supporting those businesses who support us so we grow together.  These awards really helped me to assess various aspects of my business and I found the process very rewarding.” Commented Alan Ren owner of Audi Centre Cairns and Cairns Cars and winner of the 2019 Emerging Leader Award.

2021 sees 10 award categories open for submissions, these are:

o   Legacy Award 

o   Emerging Leadership Award 

o   People Management Excellence Award 

o   Customer Service Excellence Award 

o   Marketing and Communications Excellence Award 

o   Indigenous Business Excellence Award 

o   Community Contribution Award 

o   Sustainability / Environmental Award 

o   Business Technology Award 

o   Innovation Award

Chamber President Sally Milkota said “After the 18 month we have had, this is a chance for us to all stop and reflect on the challenges and accomplishments and consider those in the business and wider community who have stepped up and not only survived but thrived.  These awards a are a great platform no only to recognise excellence but also for business owners to use the criteria to review their business.  The BEX Awards give us a chance to celebrate our incredible business community.”

The rigorous awards process starts with calling to the business community for nominations, followed by an Information Breakfast in August, finalists announced early September and culminating in a celebration, the BEX Gala Dinner on Friday October 15.

The 2021 Bex awards are proudly organised by the Cairns Chamber of Commerce to recognise business excellence in our community.

The media are invited to the launch of the 2021 BEX awards which will be held at 10am at the Pullman International on Thursday 22 July.  The Cairns Chamber of Commerce President Sally Milkota will launch the awards with the following previous winners in attendance.
