Bonnie Snow has been named regional Queensland bus driver of the year for 2025 at the Queensland Bus Industry Council (QBIC) annual gala dinner and awards night.

Ms Snow, who drives local urban routes in Cairns, was selected from more than 190 nominations in the regional category, along with three finalists, with the result determined entirely by a statewide public vote.

The annual awards celebrate drivers who go above and beyond for their customers and communities, reflecting real experiences from passengers across the state.

Ms Snow’s nomination was supported by customers, who recognised her response during a stressful medical situation onboard, where her calm approach and genuine concern left a lasting impression.

Acting head of Translink Dean Helm presented the award and said the recognition highlighted the role drivers play in the community.

“Bonnie’s recognition is a reflection of the positive impact she has on her customers and the Cairns community,” he said.

“Her calm approach and genuine care for others left a lasting impression, and this award is a well-deserved acknowledgement of that.”

Ms Snow said the award was both exciting and humbling.

“I feel just a whole heap of mixed emotions all at once. It feels amazing – I’m absolutely honoured to be able to win this,” she said.
