Big turnout for Sugar Festival bowls comp
CLUB Mossman, still known lovingly by many locals as the Mossman Memorial Bowls Club, has recently hosted the ‘Sugar Festival’ bowls competition, over three days.
Ladies Day kicked off the event on Friday 14 August, with 30 ladies playing 10 teams of ‘triples’ each with two games of 12 ends.
Saturday saw mixed teams take to the green with 12 teams playing two games of 12 ends and on Sunday it was all about the guys on the final day, each player playing four games of 10 ends.
The whole weekend included a smorgasbord lunch, cent sales, a Sunday afternoon tea presentation and a raffle with winning tickets going to Di Bennet and Joan Day.
There was more good news for Club Mossman, with young member Malachy McTaggart winning the district champion of club champions at Mareeba recently. Well done Malachy.
Overall, it has been a massive couple of weeks, yet again, in Douglas, so for now it’s Gazza signing out.
